Chairman

Brivais Vilnis

Arnolds Babris is a Latvian businessman and political figure, known for his leadership in both business and public service. He currently serves as the chairman of the board of A/S “Brīvais Vilnis”, one of the largest fish processing companies in Latvia. With a background in maritime engineering, Babris graduated from the Riga Marine School in 1987, specializing as a ship mechanic.

In addition to his business career, Babris has been actively involved in politics. In 2024, he ran for the European Parliament as a candidate from the political party “Tautas varas spēks” (Power of the People). His political focus has been driven by his concern for the Latvian business environment and international issues, particularly his experiences dealing with corruption while conducting business in Ukraine. Babris has publicly criticized the governance structure in Ukraine, which he claims is dominated by oligarchic families, and has taken legal action to address corruption.

Throughout his career, Babris has faced the challenges of high operational costs and fierce competition in the fish processing industry, but he remains dedicated to finding solutions to sustain the sector in Latvia. His expertise in both business and governance makes him a significant figure in Latvian economic and political landscapes
