Professor Dr. Chen Xin serves as the deputy director-general of the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and is also the Executive President and Managing Director of the China-CEE Institute in Budapest. He studied at Pécs University in Hungary in the late 1980s and pursued International Politics at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the 1990s, ultimately earning a Ph.D. in Law.
From 2007 to 2008, Dr. Chen was the Chinese Co-Director of the EU-China European Studies Centres Programme (ESCP), a collaborative initiative funded by both the Chinese Government and the European Commission. He holds leadership roles in several associations, including deputy chair of the Chinese Association of European Studies (CAES), vice president of the China Society of Emerging Economies (CSEE), and vice president of the China Society of Central and Eastern European Studies (CSCEES). He is also an Executive member of the Chinese Association on International Economic Relations.
Dr. Chen’s primary research focuses on EU-China trade and economic relations, the European economy, and Central and Eastern European studies.
