Mg.sc.soc. Edgars Cerkovskis is a Lecturer at the EKA University of Applied Sciences in Latvia and holds an administrative role within the EKA Alumni Association. He has developed and oversees more than ten innovative study courses at various Latvian universities, focusing on topics such as the digital economy, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and the applications of digital tools.
Cerkovskis has delivered courses for several notable Latvian organizations, including the Joint Stock Company Latvijas Dzelzceļš, the State Employment Agency, and the Ministry of Finance. He has also lectured on digitization in nearly all municipalities across Latvia. Over the past two years, he has trained more than 600 school principals and educated around 5,000 teachers on various aspects of digitization.
His expertise is further demonstrated through his articles on digitization and its impact on education and the economy, published in leading Latvian media. He frequently appears as an expert on Latvian television and radio. Additionally, he is the creator of several digital tools, including the Virtual Economy Cabinet and various online simulation games for students.
The digital materials, programs, and methodologies he has developed continue to be utilized in major Latvian educational institutions, such as the Riga Distance Learning Secondary School, the European Distance Learning Center, and the Latvian Distance Learning Professional Center. Among his significant contributions is the development and testing of the Education Quality Index in Latvian schools, as well as the implementation of Virtual Reality in three Latvian schools.
