Guntis Bārzdiņš is a prominent Latvian computer scientist, currently serving as a professor at the University of Latvia. He is a lead researcher at the university’s Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science and heads the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He is also a full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
Bārzdiņš’s research focuses on artificial intelligence, language technologies, and computational linguistics, with special emphasis on machine learning, inductive reasoning, and semantic analysis. He has been involved in several major European projects related to language technology, including initiatives for multilingual knowledge transfer and Latvian language speech recognition.
Over the years, Bārzdiņš has made significant contributions to advancing AI and machine learning in Latvia and has played a key role in multiple EU-funded projects aimed at developing technology for Latvian language processing, including medical applications and media monitoring systems.
His academic achievements have earned him a respected position in the field, particularly for his work on developing AI-driven solutions for natural language processing and semantic web technologies
