Prof. Dr. Inese Vaider is a member of the European Parliament, representing the ETP faction. Born in Jelgava, she excelled academically, graduating with honors from both high school and the University of Latvia, where she earned her doctorate and became a professor.

Following Latvia’s independence, she entered politics, holding various prominent roles, including Minister of the Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Riga City Council, Advisor to the Prime Minister and the President, and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Commission in the Saeima (Latvian Parliament).

Since 2004, she has represented Latvia in the European Parliament, advocating for EU funds for Latvia, promoting employment, entrepreneurship, consumer rights, and environmental protection, while maintaining a strong stance against Russia. She has also spearheaded various pilot projects, such as securing funding to combat Russian disinformation, addressing the issue of dual-quality products between Western and Eastern Europe, and reducing food waste. Currently, she is working on initiatives like redirecting sanctioned Russian assets to Ukraine and supporting resident-led home renovations.

In addition to her political career, she has authored several books on economics and the memoir “Mission to Latvia.” She also serves as president of the Latvian Economic Development Forum and has received numerous international accolades.
