Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies

In 2001, after earning a Doctoral degree in Economics with a focus on Agrarian Economy from the Faculty of Economics and Social Development at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU), this accomplished academic and administrator embarked on a distinguished career in academia and public service.

Currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Development (since September 2024), and a Professor and Leading Researcher at LBTU (since July 2024), they have played a pivotal role in shaping the university’s academic landscape. Previously, from 2014 to 2024, they held the position of Rector, Professor, and Leading Researcher at LBTU, following a prior tenure as Dean from 2006 to 2014.

Beyond academia, they have extensive experience in government and rural development, having served as the Director of the Rural Support Service at the Ministry of Agriculture from 2000 to 2006, and as Deputy State Secretary and Department Director in the Ministry of Agriculture from 1993 to 2000. Their career reflects a deep commitment to both academic excellence and the development of Latvia’s agricultural and rural sectors.
